ACWR(急性・慢性負荷比)ACWR (acute:chronic workload ratio)
Your last 7 days of training load compared with your 28-day average: a guide to how quickly load is changing.

It compares your recent load with your usual load as a single ratio. A value near 1 means you're training about as much as usual.
RouteRun shows it as Workload Balance (ACWR). As a guide, 0.8–1.3 means your load is changing gradually, and above 1.3 means it is rising quickly. When it rises quickly, the app suggests keeping the next session light. It never tells you to stop running because of the number alone.
ACWR comes from studies of groups of athletes. It's a signal of how load is changing, not a validated injury predictor, and the ratio alone can't tell you your own injury risk. If you have pain or feel unwell, rest whatever the number says, and see a medical professional if you need to.

Acute workload
The training load you built up over the last 7 days: how much you've run lately.
It reflects how hard your running was as well as how much you ran. It is the top half of the ACWR.
A high acute load isn't a problem by itself. What matters is how suddenly it rose compared with your usual load (chronic workload).
Chronic workload
Your average training load over the past 28 days: how much you usually run.
The most oxygen your body can take in per minute: a common measure of endurance fitness.
It is measured in mL/kg/min. An accurate measurement needs a maximal-effort test in a lab. It can also be estimated from your pace and heart rate when you run.
RouteRun estimates VO2max from your runs, and also uses the value Apple Watch saved to Apple Health when there is one. The app labels it Estimated — may differ from lab measurement.
VDOT(ダニエルズ)VDOT (Daniels)
A measure of running fitness from race or run times, devised by Jack Daniels.
Daniels, J. (2014). Daniels' Running Formula (3rd ed.). Human Kinetics.
It turns a time into a value close to VO2max, and from that you can set training paces for easy, tempo and interval runs.
RouteRun's training plans set workout paces from a VDOT worked out from your recent runs and other data. It's also one of the inputs to Predicted Time.
Daniels, J. (2014). Daniels' Running Formula (3rd ed.). Human Kinetics.
Cardiac drift
Your heart rate creeping up over time even though your pace stays the same.
Coyle, E. F. & González-Alonso, J. (2001). Cardiovascular drift during prolonged exercise: new perspectives. Exerc Sport Sci Rev, 29(2), 88–92. doi:10.1097/00003677-200104000-00009
It's more likely on long runs and hot days, and is thought to be linked to rising body temperature and fluid loss, among other factors.
After a run with heart-rate data, RouteRun shows how much your heart rate changed for the same speed between the first and second half (Pa:HR). Treat the number as a guide, alongside how you feel.

Running economy
How much oxygen you need to run at a given pace: your running's fuel economy.
If VO2max is the size of the engine, running economy is its fuel efficiency. Two runners with the same VO2max can differ: the more economical one holds a pace more easily. Form, strength and training history all play a part.
Easy run
A run at a relaxed, conversational effort that builds your base.
In most training plans, easy running makes up a large share of the total. It's fine if it feels almost too easy.
Ayumu is designed not to talk down a slow pace (see self-determination theory).
Tempo run
A sustained run at a pace that feels hard but manageable.
It's run near your lactate threshold to build the ability to hold a faster pace for longer. The effort is roughly close to half marathon race pace.
Interval training
Alternating fast repeats with easy jogging or rest.
For example: run 400 m fast, jog easily for 90 seconds, and repeat a few times. Because it's hard, most plans keep it to once or twice a week. If you're new to running, get used to regular running first.
Periodization
Splitting training into phases, each with its own purpose.
Tapering
Cutting back your training before a race so you start it rested.
Bosquet, L., Montpetit, J., Arvisais, D. & Mujika, I. (2007). Effects of tapering on performance: a meta-analysis. Med Sci Sports Exerc, 39(8), 1358–1365. doi:10.1249/mss.0b013e31806010e0
Usually you reduce the amount of running while keeping some intensity. A pooled analysis of studies points to cutting volume by roughly 40–60% over about two weeks while keeping intensity and frequency (mostly for longer races). How much to cut and how early to start depend on the race distance and your training. RouteRun's training plans for a race end with a Taper phase.

(SDT)Self-determination theory (SDT)
A theory that explains motivation through three needs: autonomy, competence and relatedness.
Deci, E. L. & Ryan, R. M. (2000). The "what" and "why" of goal pursuits: Human needs and the self-determination of behavior. Psychological Inquiry, 11(4), 227–268.
Proposed by Deci and Ryan, it is widely used in sport and education. It holds that feeling you chose something yourself keeps you going longer than pressure or comparison with others.
Following this idea, Ayumu is designed to avoid pressuring language and to choose words that respect your pace.

RPE(主観的運動強度)RPE (rating of perceived exertion)
How hard the effort feels to you, put into a number.
A common version uses a 0–10 scale, where higher numbers mean harder effort. Its advantage is that you can judge effort by feel, without a heart-rate monitor.
(Apple Health)Apple Health
App。Apple's app that keeps health and fitness data from iPhone and Apple Watch in one place.
RouteRun reads from and writes to Apple Health only the items you allow. For example, it reads heart rate and running workouts, and saves finished runs as workouts. You can change the permissions in iPhone Settings at any time.
Apple Health data is sent to the cloud AI only if you agree to AI coaching. See Apple Health for details.
Live Activities
An iPhone feature that shows what's happening right now on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

On supported iPhones, RouteRun writes some short texts, such as tips before and after a run, with the AI on your iPhone. Other features, such as chatting with Ayumu, use cloud AI. What data is sent explains what each feature sends.
Ayumu
RouteRun's AI running coach.
You can chat with Ayumu about your runs and your training plan. The name comes from the Japanese word for "to walk forward", and the coach is built as a companion that values running for years over short-term speed.
You need to agree to AI coaching to use it. Ayumu's advice isn't medical advice. If you have pain or health concerns, see a medical professional.
Deep ThinkDeep Think
A mode in which Ayumu takes longer to think before it answers.
